Buying from a receiver

In nearly every bankruptcy the receiver will search for a buyer of the bankrupt company. The receiver often chooses between a full relaunch or selling the company in separate parts. To what do you have to pay attention in these cases?

Expanding activities

Buying from a receiver can be interesting, because the value of a bankrupt company is much lower than the value of the healthy company. This is comparable to a car which you buy from the junkyard for a much lower price than the car you

buy at the dealer. Many active companies in the same market as the bankrupt company can have an interest in expansion of their activities by buying from the receiver. The bankrupt company can relaunch when that happens.

Points of concern

What is important to look at when you buy company parts, formerly from a bankrupt company, from a receiver? First of all: parties that apply quickly, have a bigger chance to buy from the receiver. The receiver is in a hurry most of the time. Furthermore it is important to realise that a receiver sells according to the principle “no full guarantees” and that a relaunch only will be possible when you act fast.
